:: A bit of an update ::

Ok bad news first-- my cold is *still* hanging on! The coughing kept me up last night... no fun : ( On the bright side I think this new found ultra-annoying tickle is actually a sign that I'm getting a little better-- no more throaty coughs that is.

The good news is that I was given a speaking part (I think) in the Panto! I didn't make it to the read through on monday so I'm still not sure exactly what scenes I'm in but I know I am playing "Le Francis" and that I get to speak in an outrageous french accent. Hehe, yay!

Having mostly gotten through my second week of classes I can confidently say that they're all awesome! The maritime archaeology class in particular is fascinating. It works out doubly well for me that we're going over a lot of the basics of survey/excavation (though obviously focused on underwater sites) since I think I'm the only one in the class that hasn't taken a field course of some kind.

I went to Evensong at the cathedral again this evening with a fellow abroad student, Dominique, who is from UCI and shares my love of old buildings and lovely choir music. Tonight's service was sung by the Choristers (all quite young) so it didn't have quite the same all-encompassing reverberation as the last one I went to, but it was beautiful nonetheless. I think Dominique really said it when she said "with the adult voices you can feel the walls shake"-- there were a few moments of real musical glory though, and there is definitely something to be said for the crystal clear almost angelic sound of the younger voices.

Anyway, that's about it for now. I'm really excited about the possibility of possible visitors so if you're one of those people do let me know specifics soonish so that I can plan my work around you. And to everyone else, the invitation is out there if you feel so inclined to hop a plane and head over to the UK (unlikely, I know, but I figured I'd put it out there.)
