:: I'm so pleased! ::
Mmmm. I'm so contented with everything at the moment that I figured I better write about it before something goes wrong ;)
Today was registration for all of the deptartments I'm registering with except archaeology. The line (excuse me, queue) was very long and very slow-- there was one poor man registering all the Erasmus (many of which have a bit of a time with english) and Study Abroad students for ALL of the Humanities! Eep! I found a few other Study Abroad students, one of which went to high school with Julie (me: i think you know someone I know, Erica: oh yes! you must be Alex.) The line took for ever but the professor doing the registering was nice enough to stick around longer to get more people in. My own registration went quite smoothly and he didnt seem to think I would have any problem with the theology class I want to take: Religion in the Middle Ages, which sounds AWESOME. I'm so excited. I think some of it will be a bit of repeat from my Art History class last semester, but it also covers lots and lots more. I think it will be a really great course for me. I also registered for my latin course, and hopefully tomorrow I will be able to get into my seafaring and archaeology class (eee!) After registering, Erica and I went out for dinner as we were both famished. We ended up at a place called Nando's that served really delicious portugese food. Eating out is perhaps the one place you feel the exchange rate the most-- but I hadn't gone out to eat yet so I treated myself to a nice meal. We also got ciders (which by the way, are always alcoholic here) which went so well with the food. Seriously I think my stomach is in a kind of ecstacy at the moment. The food I got was quite spicy-- the kind that makes your lips go "eee!" and your tummy go "mmm." so good. But then, most of you know how I love my spicy food : )
It feels a bit like cheating when I hang out with other abroad students but since none of us have started classes or clubs its one of the few places where you know you have something in common with people. Even if its just the fact that you're "different" from everyone else, or you've been in college for 2 years already.
Anyway, I should probably end it at this for now-- tonight is Speed Mate-ing (oh yes, I already had quite a chuckle at that.) It's for all the student houses (but not the halls, I don't think) and its just what it sounds.. Speed dating, except just to make friends. Or mates. Right.
OH! I also took a little advertisement from Nando's that was shaped as a pair of underwear and says, "There's nothing pants about our Christmas parties" hehehe. I'll take a picture of this when I have the chance. You have to love how to any american that statements means very very little.
